The markets after a rather range-bound morning, have slipped deeper into red in mid-noon trades. The Sensex is now down 50 points at 20,210.
The NSE Nifty has declined 21 points to 6080.
The BSE IT index has surged over 1% to 6,133 led by TCS. The stock has flared up over 5% to Rs 1,037 on the back of better-than-expected Q2 numbers. Infosys and Tech Mahindra are the other prominent gainers. On the other hand, Wipro has plunged almost 5% to Rs 447 and HCL Technologies has declined 1.7% to Rs 416.
Among the Sensex 30 stocks - Sterlite, DLF, Tata Power and HDFC are the other major losers besides Wipro.
Jaiprakash Associates, Hindustan Unilever, Tata Steel and ITC are the other prominent losers.
Among the BSE IPO index - Pipavav Shipyard has soared 8% to Rs 91. Hathway Cables, Gujarat Pipavav, Aster Silicates, Ramky Infra, Mahindra Holidays and Va Tech Wabag are the other major gainers.
Bedmutha Industries has slumped 10% to Rs 227. Bajaj Corporation, Mandhana, SKS Microfinance, CEBBCO, Jindal Cotex, Eros International Media and Persistenet Systems are the other major losers.
The market breadth is marginally positive - out of 3,013 stocks traded so far, 1,530 have advanced and 1,361 have declined on the BSE.
