The markets remained in the red for a major part of the week due to several factors like a weakening rupee, a disappointing March Index of Industrial Production, which contracted 3.5 per cent raising concerns over economic growth and plans to review the tax treaty with Mauritius.
However, one positive news was clarity on the General Anti-Avoidance Rule; the finance ministry delayed its rollout by a year. The fund managers of Smart Portfolios Season 4 saw their portfolio value erode by two to five per cent. Ashish Mittal of Centrum Wealth saw a near-two per cent rise in portfolio value, while Ajay Parmar of Emkay Global saw a five per cent erosion. Three of the four fund managers remained active between May 2 and May 11.
