Market momentum loses steam

The Sensex has registered an intra-day low of 18,208, down 30 points from the day's opening. The Nifty too has slipped into the red. It is at 5475, down 10 points. The European markets opening flat didn't help much to lift the spirit of the market. FTSE, CAC and DAX opened up 0.1% each.
The broader markets on the other hand are rooted at 0.7% as compared to the benchmark index which is down 0.08%.

Among the sectoral indices on the BSE, Realty up 1.1% is the top gainer closely followed by the Auto index. Teck remains at 0.8%. There is no improvement in the indices that are in the red at the bottom of the charts. Unitech, Sobha Dev and HDIL up 2% each are the movers in the realty space.In the Auto index, MRF leads the rally at 4% followed by Hero Honda, Bharat Forge and Exide Industries gaining 2% ecah.

Hero Honda and Bharti Airtel up 2% each are the top gainers on the Sensex. Mahindra & Mahindra, Reliance Infrastructure, ONGC, Reliance Communications and Infosys adding 1% follows.

Jindal Steel, Jaiprakash Associates and Sterlite down 1% each are the top losers on the Sensex. Tata Steel, RIL, Hindalco and Tata Power are the other significant losers.

Market breadth is marginally positive. 1733 stocks have advanced while 1131 stocks have declined.
