The company acquired a $100 million US-based jewellery retail chain for about $40 million and has also increased its stake in Gili India to 65 per cent and entered into an agreement with Modern India to operate a chain of jewellery shops.
In June 2006, Gitanjali announced its plans to set up a 200-acre SEZ in Hyderabad to offer a diamond trading bourse in addition to common infrastructure for jewellery units. Its stock price has jumped by a whopping 52.36 per cent over the past month.
