After some range bound movement, the Sensex has dipped to touch the day's low of 18,235. The Nifty contiues to be flat at 5.485. On the other hand, the broader markets are quite stable. The smallcap index and the midcap index is at 0.7% each as compared to the benchmark index at 0.05%. There is not much monement in the Asian markets either.
Among the sectoral indices on the BSE, IT and Teck continues to lead up 0.8% each. The Power index is flat while the Metal has slipped into the red. Bankex, FMCG and Oil & Gas continue to remain in the red at the bottom of the chart.The draggers in the Oil & Gas space are HPCL down 2%, RIL and Gail India shedding nearly 1%.
Hero Honda up 2% continues to lead the Sensex gainers chart followed by Mahindra & Mahindra, Infosys, Bharti Airtel and ONGC adding 1% each.
Jindal Steel and Jaiprakash Associates down 1% each are the top losers on the Sensex. RIL, Tata Steel, ITC,Sterlite and Hindalco down 0.6% -0.9% are the other significant losers.
Market breadth continues to be positive. 1682 stocks have advanced as compared to 1020 declines.
