After opening on a strong note, the buoyancy in the market continues as steep buying is seen, particularly, in select heavyweights, tech and banking stocks. The Sensex, which soared to a high of 6,474, is now up 91 points at 6,472. The Nifty has advanced 27 points to 2,021.Reliance, on a traded volume of over 3.44 lakh, has advanced 1.77% (Rs 10) to Rs 553.ONGC is up a per cent (Rs 9) at Rs 868. ITC is up 2% (Rs 26) at Rs 1,307, and HLL is up a rupee at Rs 132.Infosys is trading 1.18% higher (Rs 26) at Rs 2,195. While Wipro has notched up 2.48% gains (Rs 16) to Rs 646, Satyam has climbed 3.16% (Rs 13) to Rs 409, on a volume of over 3.87 lakh.ICICI Bank has flared up 4% (Rs 16) to Rs 398. While HDFC Bank has jumped 2.25% (Rs 12) to Rs 545, SBI is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 665.HPCL has come off its early highs and is up 2.18% (Rs 7) at Rs 309.Hindalco has notched up 1.75% gains (Rs 22) to Rs 1,306. While Tisco is up 1.46% (Rs 6) at Rs 402, Tata Power has gained 1.705 (Rs 6) to Rs 362.Bajaj has gained 1.37% (Rs 14) to Rs 1,048, and Maruti is up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 422. Hero Honda is trading lower by a per cent (Rs 6) at Rs 539.FMCG stocks have firmed up. Satnam Overseas has jumped 5% (Rs 4) to Rs 92. While McDowell, too, has surged 5% (Rs 11) to Rs 235, Marico is up 4.75% (Rs 11) at Rs 250. Ruchi Soya, Henkel Spic, Dabur, Tata Tea and Godfrey Philips are up in a range of 2-4%.
