After a good opening, the Sensex have moved upwards and has touched a new high of 20,706 and continues to hover around the same. The Nifty has added 75 points at 6,219.The midcap index too has advanced furthur and is up 1% while the smallcap index is at 0.9%. The benchmark index continues to outperform at 1.2%.
In the midcap space, 217 stocks have advanced while 52 have declined. The gainers here are Bhushan Steel up 15%, UCO Bank, Manappuram General Finance adding 7% and Edelweiss Capital and Rajesh Exports gaining 6% each. 404 stocks have gone north while 116 went south on the smallcap index. The movers here are Sujana Towers up 10%, Sujana Metal, Best & Crompton gaining 8% and 7% respectively.
Among the BSE sectoral indices, Realty has inched further to lead the chart, up 1.6% closely followed by Auto, Oil & Gas and IT. The metal index which opened at the top above 1% has seen some profit taking and is at the bottom at 0.9%. Capital Goods and Consumer Durables continue to be the least gainers among the pack.
Mahindra & Mahindra, Jaiprakash Associates continue to lead the Sensex gainers charts at 3% each followed by ACC, Wipro,ICICI Bank and BHEL adding nearly 2% each. Tata Motors, Reliance Communications, ONGC, Jindal Steel and Tata Steel gaining 1% each are the other significant gainers.
There are no changes in the Sensex losers list. Sterlite down nearly 1% and HDFC Bank losing 0.02% round off the list.
The market breadth is very positive.1924 stocks haveadvanced while 715 have declined.
