An overnight rally in US markets coupled with sector specific action and FII inflows have pushed the markets to their highest in 32 months this morning.
The Sensex crossed the 20,000 mark and is now trading at 20,011- up 105 points.
Nifty has gained 28 points to 6,008. The index touched a high of 6,033 in trades this morning.
US markets surged on Monday, with Dow and Nasdaq jumping around 1.5% each. S&P 500 closed at its highest in four months.
Foreign Instituitional Investors have invested Rs 1,793 crore on Monday - taking its total to Rs 13,738 crore this month.
Capital Goods , IT and Auto stocks have jumped 1-2% in morning trades. Auto index stocks have moved up on hopes of better demand after the good rainfall in the country. Hero Honda is the top gainer in this sector, and has jumped 1.7% to Rs 1,851. Cummins India and Tata Motors have advanced over 1% each to rs 762 and Rs 1,068, respectively.
Larsen & Toubro has jumped 3.2% to Rs 2,065. Wipro has added 2.6% to Rs 432.
HDFC, BHEL, HDFC Bank and Hindustan Unilever are the other prominent gainers in the Sensex.
However, Jaiprakash Associates has dropped 0.8% to Rs 124. DLF and Reliance Infrastructure are also marginally in red.
Hindalco, ICICI Bank and Reliance Communications have slipped around 0.5% each.
