The European markets have again exerted their influence on the domestic bourses. The benchmark indices were trading firm, albeit in a narrow range, till noon. But a rally across the European bourses, with the FTSE, CAC and DAX gaining between 1% and 2% in early trades, has lifted our indices higher. And the green across Asia has been a futher sentiment booster. The Sensex is quoting at 17582, higher by 141 points and the Nifty is at 5278, up 48 points. The midcap index is at 7188, higher by 49 points and the smallcap index is at 9200, up 49 points.
TCS has strengthened further and is now up 2.1% at Rs 755, M&M has gained 1.9% at Rs 622 and HDFC Bank has added 1.6% at Rs 1944. And index heavyweight RIL has added 0.9% at Rs 1078.
RCom continues to top the laggards list on the BSE, having weakened by 2.1% at Rs 181. Hero Honda has shed 0.5% at Rs 2011 and Jaiprakash Associates has lost 0.4% at Rs 125.
The market breadth is positive. Out of 2893 stocks traded on the BSE, there are 1667 advancing stocks as against 1112 declines.
