Markets have extended gains in the morning deals on the back of buying visible across the board. The Sensex has jumped 224 points to 18,760 and the Nifty is up 66 points at 5,701.
Meanwhile, HDFC is the top Sensex gainer, up nearly 3% at Rs 796. HDFC Bank, Bajaj Auto, Jindalso Steel, Sterlite Industries, ONGC, GAIL India, BHEL, Infosys, ITC and Hindalco are also trading higher by 1.2-2.5% each.
On the sectoral front, the BSE realty index is the top gainer. The index has advanced nearly 2% to 1,908. Bankex, FMCG, consumer durables, capital goods and oill & gas indices are also up 1-1.4% each.
Among the individual stocks, Hindustan Copper has dipped almost 10% at Rs 153.45 in opening deals, falling below its average offer for sale (OFS) price of Rs 156.56 per share on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
IndusInd Bank is trading higher by 3% at Rs 397, also its record high on the BSE, after the private sector lender said that it has opened the issue for qualified institutional placement (QIP) on November 26.

Markets have opened on a positive note in trades today tracking firm global cues. The Sensex has advanced 100 points to open at 18,637 and the Nifty has opened higher by 30 points at 5,666.
In the Asian markets, shares climbed for a seventh straight day on Tuesday after a deal on new debt targets for Greece and a political agreement on disbursing the next installment of aid.Japan's Nikkei continues its gaining streak with the index gaining 0.5% to 9,434.
Nikkei was 36 points at 9,424, Hang Seng jumped 11 points to 21,873, Straits Times jumped 5 points to 3,009 and the Seoul Composite was trading higher by 17 points at 1,926.
Wall Street slipped on Monday, pulling back from last week's gains, as retailers fell on concerns about heavy discounts at the start of the U.S. holiday shopping season and the overhang of the "fiscal cliff" kept investors wary of making big bets.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 42.31 points, or 0.33 per cent, to 12,967. The S&P 500 dropped 2.86 points, or 0.20 per cent, to 1,406. The Nasdaq Composite gained 9.93 points, or 0.33 per cent, to 2,977.
Back home, all the Sensex stocks are witnessing buying in the opening deals. Sterlite Industries is the top Sensex gainer, the stock has advanced nearly 2% to Rs 100. HDFC, HDFC Bank, Jindal Steel, Hindalco, ICICI Bank, ONGC and Bajaj Auto have also opened higher by 1-1.7% each.
On the sectoral front, BSE banking index- bankex is the top gainer, up 1.2% at 13,297. Capital goods, consumer durables, metal, realty, FMCG, oil & gas and power indices are also up 0.8-1% each.
The broader markets are in-line with the benchmark indices. The BSE mid-cap and small-cap indices are up 0.7% each.
The overall breadth is positive as 1,097 stocks are advancing while 340 are declining.
