Markets extend losses

The markets are witnessing profit booking in the noon trades, the Sensex is now down 108 points at 20,897 an Nifty is lower by 25 points at 6285.

ONGC is the top loser among the Sensex stocks down 1.6% at Rs 1356 followed by Hero Honda, DLF, Mahindra & Mahindra and NTPC down more than 1.3% each.

Sterlite Industries, ACC, Tata Steel and Hindalco are significant gainers

All the sectoral indices are trading in the red except Metal and Healthcare indices with Realty leading the losers charts. The index is down more than 1% at 3701 followed by IT, PSU and Banking indices.

Sunteck Realty is the top loser among the Realty stocks followed by Anant Raj Industries and Ackruti City down more than 1.5% each.

The broader markets are trading marginally lower, the mid-cap index is down 20 points at 8678 and small-cap index is at 11,040 lower by four points.

Meanwhile President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have started the bilateral talks and a joint statement is expected later today.
