The Sensex opened at 16,222 mirroring weak global cues. The index slipped to a low of 15,790 and is now at 15,914, down 311 points.
Among the Sensex-30 stocks, Tata Steel has slipped 4% to Rs 555. Tata Motors, Jaiprakash Associates and ACC have dropped 3% each to Rs 667, Rs 127 and Rs 831, respectively.
DLF, Mahindra & Mahindra, ICICI Bank, Hero Honda and Hindalco have declined 2.5% each.
The Asian markets are now trading in red. The Hang Seng has crashed 3% to 19,729. The Nikkei has plunged 3% to 10,063.
The Taiwan Weighted Index has dropped 4% and the Seoul Composite Index has declined 3%, respectively.
