Markets flat in early trades

The Sensex opened almost unchanged at 17,199, but soon touched a low of 17,141. The index is now flat at 17,184, down 15 points.

The NSE Nifty is down six points at 5,102.

Reliance is trading at the ex-bonus price. The company had announced a 1:1 bonus issue, for which November 27, 2009 was the record date. The stock now trades at Rs 1,089.

Hindalco has surged over 2% to Rs 138. ACC too has moved up 2% to Rs 810.

Sterlite and gained 1.7% at Rs 872. Sun Pharma has added 1.3% to Rs 1,471.

Hero Honda and Bharti Airtel are also up over 1% each.

Mahindra & Mahindra, however, has slipped 1% to Rs 1,048.
