Markets continue to trade flat with the Sensex up 40 points at 19,989 and the Nifty gained 11 points to trade at 5,984 in the noon deals. The gains in select names like Infosys, ONGC, L&T, Bhati Airtel and BHEL is helping the indices to remain in the positive territory.

Meanwhile, there were some marginal gains in the broader markets with the midcap index up nearly 02% and the smallcap index was flat with a positive bias, both underperforming the BSE benchmark index which was up 0.3%.

In Asia, shares fell, as concerns over financing available to property developers hurt Chinese markets, although overall sentiment was supported by Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke's pledge to keep monetary policy easy for the foreseeable future.
