After touching a high of 19,502, shortly after the opening , the markets had pared some of its initial gains only to recover quickly. The Sensex is at 19,472, up 125 points and the Nifty has added 47 points at 5,843. After underperforming yesterday, the broader markets i.e. the smallcap index and the midcap index has caught up today. The smallcap is in line with the bechmark index at 0.4% while the midcap index is at 0.3%.
In the smallcap space, 329 scrips have advanced while 184 have declined. The movers here are Resurgere Mines up 18%, Ajmera Realty adding 12%,Shristi Infrastructure gaining nearly 10%. In the midcaps, 189 scrips have moved up while 78 have gone down. The propellers here are Sigrun Holdings at nearly 10%, Berger Paints, Info Edge India gaining 5% and Jubilant Foods up 4%.
On the BSE sectoral indices, IT has advanced 1.6% to lead the chart followed by Oil & Gas at 1.2%, Consumer Durables and Teck at 1.2% and 1.1% respectively. Realty, Power amd Metal which opened in the red has moved up on the chart. However, Capital Goods has pared some of its opening gaing and is at the bottom at 0.1%. The movers in the IT space are Oracle Financial Services, Wipro up 2.4%, Infosys, HCL Tech and Rolta India gaining 1% each.
The gainers in the Senesx-30 stocks are ONGC up 3%, Wipro, Mahindra & Mahindra,Infosys gaining nealry 2%. The other significant gainers are index heavyweight RIL and TCS up 1.3%, Reliance Infrastructure and Maruti Suzuki up 1% each.
On the losers side are Bharti Airtel and Jindal Steel down nearly 1%, Sterlite, SBI, L&T, Tata Power and Hindustan Unilever losing between 0.1% -0.5%.
