Markets in green ahead of policy review

Markets have opened in the green this morning ahead of the RBI policy review. The Sensex opened at 17,999 and surged to a high of 18,077. The index is now up 41 points at 18,061.

Nifty is flat at 5,418.
US markets gained on Monday on FedEx Outlook and new home sales data. The Dow gained 101 points, or 1% to 10,525. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 1% to 1,115. The Nasdaq advanced 27 points, or 1%, to close at 2,296.43.

BSE auto index has recovered from yesterday's fall. The index is now up 1% at 8,217. However, rate sensitive, Bankex, is trading marginally down at 11,389.

Hero Honda has jumped 2.5%, reversings yesterday's negative trend, to Rs 1,857.

Sterlite has added 1% to Rs 176. Hindustan Unilever and Wipro have added nearly 1% each to Rs 264 and rs 416, respectively.

Market heavyweight, Reliance, is set to announce its quarterly numbers today. The stock is now up 0.7% at Rs 1,060.

Meanwhile, Larsen & Toubro has dropped 1.3% to Rs 1,894. NTPC and HDFC have shed around 1% each to Rs 199 and Rs2,938, respectively.
