Sensex opened flat at 17,382 this morning. The touched a high of 17,479 and is now up 84 points at 17,464.
The Nifty is up 19 points at 5,235.
The US markets ended flat to positive after the Fed left interest rates unchanged.
The Dow ended at 11045, stronger by 53 points or 0.4%, Nasdaq ended virtually unchanged at 2471 and S&P shut shop at 1191, up seven points or 0.6%.
The Asian markets have opened flat, albeit with a positive bias, this morning. The Hang Seng is quoting at 20,929, lower by 19 points.
BSE realty index has gained 1.5% at 3,417. Metal and auto indices are also up 1% each.
HDFC has gained 1.7% at Rs 2860. Mahindra & Mahindra and ICICI Bank have added 1.5% each to Rs 533 and Rs 932, respectively.
DLF moved up 1.4% to Rs 311. Metal stocks - Tata Steel and Sterlite have advanced 1.2% each to Rs 632 and Rs 823, respectively.
Jaiprakash Associates has added 1% to Rs 148. Other gainers include Maruti Suzuki, Tata Power, Tata Motors and Hero Honda.
However, TCS has slipped 1% to Rs 763. Sun Pharma and Wipro have dropped marginally at Rs 1610 and Rs 241, respectively.
