The markets have slipped back into the red in noon trades. Metal and PSU stocks have pared some of their gains while the IT stocks have extended losses.
The Sensex which touched a high of 18,248, is now down 41 points at 18,185.
The Metal index has pared gains from a high of 15,262, and is now up 1% at 15,150. The PSU index is up 1% at 9815. The BSE IT index, however, has dropped 1.3% to 5437.
The market breadth is now marginally positive - 1,482 stocks have advanced on the BSE as against 1,310 declines.
ONGC has surged 3.5% to Rs 1,327. Tata Steel has rallied over 3% to Rs 518.
Reliance Communications and Hindalco have moved up around 1.5% each to Rs 162 and Rs 166, respectively. Sterlite has advanced over 1% to Rs 154.
On the other hand, Infosys has slipped 1.8% to Rs 2,715.
DLF, Tata Power and Reliance Infrastructure have dropped around 1.5% each at Rs 313, Rs 1,250 and Rs 990, respectively.
Cipla, TCS and Jindal Steel are also down around 1% each.
