Sensex has managed to recover once again on gaining European shares. The index touched a high of 17,596 and is now at 17,582 - up 47 points.
The Nifty is up 19 points at 5,275.
BSE oil & gas index has jumped 1.3% to 10,844. Earlier in the day, the index had touched alow of 10,622 and managed to rebound almost 2.5% to a high of 10,868.
Europe has opened in the green. DAX is up marginally at 5,962. CAC and DAX are flat at 3,435 and 4,923, respectively.
Reliance has gained 1.6% at Rs 1085.
BHEL and Larsen & Toubro have jumped 1% each to Rs 2,463 and Rs 1,812, respectively.
ONGC, Reliance Communications, ITC and Hero Honda have added marginally in trades.
However, IT stocks have continued to be in red. Wipro has dipped 1.3% to Rs 384. Infosys and TCS have shed around 1% each at Rs 2755 and Rs 748, respectively.
Hindalco has dropped 1.2% to Rs 142.
Jaiprakash Associates, Bharti Airtel, Tata Power, Tata Motors and Tata Steel are the other big losers in the index.
BSE market breadth is marginally positive. Out of 2,808 stocks traded, 1,422 have advanced while 1,287 have declined.
