Markets off day's high

The Sensex  is quoting at 17,501, higher by 41 points and the Nifty is 5,246, up 16 points.

Markets have dropped from the day's high.

The Sensex had opened in the green on cues from Asian markets. The index touched a high of 17,566 as realty stocks gained. However, it has now pared some of its gains and is up 46 points at 17,506.

The Nifty is up 19 points at 5,249.

The realty, bankex and auto indices continue to hold their forte and have gained 1-2% each in trades.

Jaiprakash Associates continues to trade strong and is now up 2.3% to Rs 151. Tata Power and ACC have gained 2% each at Rs 1,337 and Rs 929, respectively.

DLF, Hero Honda and Hindustan Unilever have added 1.5% each. Tata Motors has jumped 1.5% to Rs 805.

Reliance Infrastructure, Wipro, ICICI Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra have added around 1% each.

However, Sun Pharma has slipped 1.6% to Rs 1,770. Larsen & Toubro and Sterlite have slipped 1% each to Rs 1,573 and Rs 807, respectively.

The BSE market breadth continues to be positive. Out of 2,792 stocks traded, 2,009 have advanced while 696 have declined.
