Markets have started to recover from its lows.
The Sensex is now donw 89 points at 17,640. Earlier in the day, the index had touched a low of 17,584.
BSE mid and small cap indices are in the green however. The indices have gained marginally to 7,139 and 9,072, respectively.
The Nifty is at 5,291 - down 29 points.
The healthcare index is up 1% at 5,809, followed by consumer durables and power.
Reliance Communications continue to gain. The stock is up 2.6% at Rs 193. Cipla has jumped 2% to Rs 348.
Reliance Infrastructure and Maruti Suzuki have added 1.4% each to Rs 1179 and Rs 1404, respectively.
Meanwhile, Sterlite has dropped 2.5% to Rs 169. Jindal Steel and HDFC have dropped 1.5% each to Rs 648 and Rs 2968, respectively.
HDFC bank, Hindustan Unilever, ICICI Bank and Wipro are down over 1% each.
Other losers include TCS, Infosys and SBI.
BSE market breadth is positive. Out of 2610 stocks traded, 1,334 have advanced while 1,167 have declined.
