After registering a low of 18,155, the markets have moved upwards after trading in a narrow range of 20 odd points. The Sensex is down 15 points at 18,212 while the Nifty is at 5,472, down five points.The broader markets, however are in a better position as compared to the bnchmark index. The smallcap index is up 0.4% while the midcap index has gained 0.5% as compared to the benchmark index, down 0.09%
Among the BSE sectoral indices,Metal index up 0.7% leads the charts closely followed by the Auto index.Realty, Teck and IT, however continue to languish in the red.The movers in the metal space are Tata Steel up 1.5%, Wel Corp adding 1% and JSW Steel and Jindal Steel gaining 0.8% each. Meanwhile, Oil & Gas, FMCG and Bankex has pared its initial losses and is up 0.6%,0.2% and 0.07% respectively.
The gainers on the Sensex are ONGC up 2% (Rs 1307), Tata Steel (Rs 508), Jindal Steel gaining nearly 1% at Rs 712 and Maruti Suzuki inching higher 0.7% at Rs 1236.
The losers are Infosys (Rs 2712), DLF (Rs 314), Tata Power (Rs 1257), TCS (Rs 865) and Jaiprakash Associates (Rs 113) down 1% each.
The market breadth is positive.1470 stocks have advanced while 1056 have declined.
