The markets have opened on a positive note with the Sensex opening up 36 points at 20,534 while the Nifty added 20 points at 6,198 but soon slipped into the red. In the broader markets, the smallcap index is 0.3% while the midcap index has added 0.1%. However, the benchmark index is in the negative at 0.04%
On the BSE sectoral indices, Realty up 0.6% leads the pack followed by Metal, Consumer Durables and Power.However, Capital Goods, FMCG,PSU, Auto,Teck, Bankex and It has opened in the negative.
Infosys,ICICI Bank down 1% each,Tata Motors, ACC, TCS, Bharti Airtel shedding 0.5% - 0.9% are the top losers in the opening trades.
Hindustan Unilever up 2%, Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra and Reliance Communications up nearly 2% are the top gainers.
The market breadth is positive. 1234 stocks have advanced while 666 have declined.
