The markets had a green opening where the Sensex gained 50 points at 20,066 and the Nifty added 16 points at 6,001 at the opening bell.In the broader markets the smallcap and the midcap indices were up 0.3% each outperforming the BSE benchmark index, up 0.1%
On the BSE sectoral indices, Realty, Bankex and Health Care up 0.4% were the top gainers in the opening trades. However, Auto and Oil & Gas indices opened in the negative down 0.1% and 0.04% each.
The top gainers on the Sensex were DLF, Sterlite and HDFC up 0.5%.Cipla, ONGC,Hindustan Unilever, TCS, SBI and Mahindra & Mahindra gained 0.3% -0.4%.
Hero Honda and Hindalco down 0.8% each were the top losers in the opening trades followed by Tata Steel, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Auto, RIL and BHEL lost between 0.4% - 0.7%
The market breadth was positive. Of the total 1536 stocks traded on the BSE, 938 stocks had advanced while 526 had declined.
