Markets continue to languish at lower levels. The Sensex after touching a low of 16,858 has managed to recover partially. The index is now down 181 points at 16,956.
Nifty is down 61 points at 5,087.
The BSE mid-cap and small-cap indices have continued to underperform the broader indices. The indices have dropped 1% and 1.5% respectively.
Most of the sectoral indices have remained in red. The BSE metal index is down 3% at 16,146. Consumer goods, realty and capital goods indices have dropped around 2% each.
However, the BSE healthcare index has bucked trends and is now up 0.5% at 5,346.
Jaiprakash Associates has slumped 6% to Rs 132. Reliance Infrastructure has dropped 2.8% to Rs 1,052. DLF is down 2% at Rs 295.
Sterlite has shed 4.8% to Rs 738. Tata Steel has slipped 2.7% to Rs 563. Hindalco has declined 2% to Rs 160.
HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank have slipped 2.5% each to Rs 1,890 and Rs 895, respectively.
Tata Motors and Hero Honda have dropped 2% each to Rs 826 and Rs 1887, respectively.
Larsen & Toubro, HDFC, ONGC, BHEL and Reliance Communications are also down.
However, Bharti Airtel has gained 1.2% at Rs 293. Cipla and Wipro have added 1% each to Rs 338 and Rs 667, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra and TCS are marginally in green.
