The markets continue to languish in the red. In a replication of this morning's attempt at a recovery, the markets momentarily clawed their way back into the green, only to lose the momentum yet again. The Sensex is now quoting at 17617, lower by 21 points and the Nifty is at 5268, down five points.
DLF continues to top the losers charts. The realty giant is down 2.9% at Rs 328. Jaiprakash Associates has weakened by 2.6% at Rs 147 and Hero Honda has lost 1.5% at Rs 1921. BHEL, Hindalco and Grasim are the other key losers. And index heavyweight, RIL is trading marginally lower at Rs 1087.
ITC is up 2.3% at Rs 268, Tata Motors has added 1.4% at Rs 786 and Tata Steel has added 0.9% at Rs 691.
The market breadth is negative. out of 2,976 shares traded on the BSE, there are 1,169 advancing stocks as against 1,642 declines.
