Markets remain subdued

The markets continue to trade near the day's low the Sensex is now down 49 points at 20,802 and Nifty is at 6257 down 15 points.

State Bank of India continue to witness the selling pressure and leads the Sensex losers charts followed by HDFC, ONGC, Tata Power and market heavyweight Reliance Industries. While TCS, Hindustan Unilever, HDFC Bank, and DLF are among the gainers on the Sensex.

Bankex continues to be the top loser among the sectoral charts followed by PSU and Oil & Gas indices, meanwhile Metal index which was near the day's low is now at 17,671 higher by 49 points.

BSE Realty index is the top gainer among the sectoral charts followed by IT, FMCG and Consumer Durable indices.

State Bank of India also leads the Bankex losers charts trading at Rs 3281 the stock is lower by more than 4% followed by Bank of Baroda, IDBI Bank and Yes Bank.

Meanwhile the European markets have opened lower, FTSE is at 5849 down 25 points, CAC is down three points at 3913 and DAX is lower by four points at 6750.

Most of the Asian markets ended the day on a negative note with Nikkei losing 38 points to end at 9694 followed by Shanghai down 24 points to end the day at 3134 and Hang Seng is down 98 points at 24,866.

Back home, market breadth is positive, out of 2970 stocks traded on the BSE 1544 stocks are advancing while 1304 stocks are declining.
