The past hour did not see any major movements on the Sensex, which traded flat at 20,100 up 39 points, while the Nifty was at 6,010 up only 9 points.
Sterlite Industries was still the top gainer, after an hour of trade, at Rs 181, followed by telecom stock Bharti Airtel at Rs 338, both up 2%, and another telecom stock Reliance Communications at Rs 129, up 1%.
Hero Honda remained the top loser on the Sensex at Rs 1,939, while Wipro at Rs 479, and Cipla at Rs 362 were the other laggards, all down 1%.
Sectoral gainers saw no change in the past hour, with Realty leading the pack at 2,801 up 1%, followed by the Metal index at 17,216, and the PSU index at 9,400, up almost 1%.
The Consumer Durables, Auto, IT and Capital Goods indices were trading flat. The Capital Goods index down 15 points at 15,306 was the top sectoral loser.
Losers in the Capital Goods arena were Crompton Greaves at Rs 322, Areva T&D at Rs 318, and Thermax at Rs 844, all down by a percent.
WIth 1,748 advancing stocks, and 917 declining stocks, the market breadth remained positive.
In the Asian markets, the Shanghai Composite was up 1%, while the Hang Seng traded up 0.5%. The Nikkei 225 saw flate trades, as did the Taiwan Weighted, which was up marginally by 0.3%. The Seoul Composite traded marginally in the negative.
