Markets slip deeper in red; Hindalco down 4%

The NSE Nifty is down 58 points at 4,208.

Hindalco has tumbled nearly 4% to Rs 143.

Ambuja Cements, ITC and Reliance Communications have shed 3.4% each at Rs 81, Rs 189 and Rs 472, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever, Maruti and Satyam have dropped 2% each to Rs 222, Rs 675 and Rs 451, respectively.

Grasim and Larsen & Toubro are also down nearly 2% each at Rs 2,102 and Rs 2,353, respectively.

Reliance has gained 2.3% at Rs 2,069. BHEL has rallied over 2% to Rs 1,391.

HDFC and Ranbaxy are up 1.7% each at Rs 2,252 and Rs 522, respectively.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,613 stocks traded so far, 1,779 have declined, 772 have advanced and 62 are unchanged.
