The markets have been trading in a constant manner this afternoon. While the FTSE and the CAC are marginally lower and Dow futures are indicating a soft start to Wall Street, the domestic bourses have been steady above the dotted line, except for a momentary blip in early noon. The Sensex is quoting at 18116, higher by 34 points or 0.1% and the Nifty is at 5441, up 11 points.

The leading gainers on the BSE are Bharti Airtel (strengthened by 2.6% at RS 326), ICICI Bank (gained 2.2% at Rs 960) and Hero Honda (added 1.9% at Rs 1860). The top Sensex losers are RCom (weakened by 2% at Rs 174), L&T (shed 1.5% at Rs 1784) and M&M (lost 1.2% at Rs 652).

The undertone remains bullish though. While the benchmark Sensex has gained 0.1%, the midcap has added 0.2% at 7512 and the smallcap index has added 0.4% at Rs 9473. In the midcap space, Jubilant Foodworks has soared by 8.5% at Rs 401, while HMT has added 6.9% at Rs 77 and Wockhardt has added 6.6% at Rs 154. And in the smallcap space, Coral Hub has soared by 13.5% at Rs 9, Andhra Pradesh Paper Mills has zoomed by 12% at Rs 178 and IFB Industries has added 10% at Rs 155.
