Markets have opened on a subdued note this morning, following cues from global peers. The Sensex opened at 19,978 - up 34 points. The index thereafter dropped into the red and is now at 19,856 - down 85 points.
Nifty is down 28 points at 5,962.
US markets dropped on Wednesday on a declining dollar and worries over the global recovery. The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 45.67 points, or 0.42 per cent, to 10,715.36. The Standard & Poor's 500 fell 7.28 points, or 0.64 per cent, to 1,132.50. The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite lost 24.29 points, or 1.03 per cent, to 2,325.06.
Asian markets are trading on a subdued note this morning. The Hang Seng has added 45 points to 22,047. Nikkei, however, is down 36 points at 9,566.
Hero Honda has dropped 1.3% to Rs 1,789. Suzlon and Infosys have shed over 1% each at Rs 54 and Rs 2,979, respectively.
Cipla, Larsen & Toubro, Unitech, Bharti Airtel among the other bog losers.
Meanwhile, Ranbaxy has held on to gains. The stock is up 1.2% at Rs 563. Sun Pharma has added 1% at Rs 1,943.
ONGC, Mahindra & Mahindra and NTPC have advanced around 1% each.
