Markets trade in a narrow range

After paring most of its initial gains the Sensex is trading in a range of 50 odd points. The Nifty has added 32 points at 5,792 and the Sensex is at 19,335 up 127 points. There are no major improvements in the broader markets either which continue to languish in the negative.However, the benchmark index is at 0.6%.

Auto index continues to lead the sectoral indices, up 1.6% followed by IT and Teck gaining 1% each. Power and Health Care has sliped into the negative along with Metal andd Relaty at the bottom of the charts. Earlier loser, Consumer Durables has signifiucantly improved and has moved up at 1.5%.In the IT space, the propellers are Wipro up 1.5%, TCS and Infosys gaining 1% each. The draggers in the Power space are GVK Power down 2%, Lanco Infra, GMR Infra and Adani Power shedding 1% each.

Tata Motors up 3% continue to lead the Sensex gainers list followed by Sterlite, HDFC Bank adding nearly 3%, Bharti Airtel, Jaiprakash Associates, Maruti Suzuki and Wipro gaining 1.5% each.

the losers on the Sensex are Hindalco, ACC down 1.7% each, NTPC, Jindal Steel shedding 0.7%, Tata Power, SBI, Reliance Communications losing 0.1% -0.3%.Market heavyweight RIL has shed 0.2%.

Market breadth continues to be negative. 1987 stocks have delined while 909 have advanced.
