The markets have moved in a narrow band this morning. The Sensex touched so far has swung in a narrow band of 74 points, a high of 18,309, and a low of 18,235. The index is now down 43 points at 18,265.
The NSE Nifty has declined 15 points at 5,485.
The market breadth is positive with 1,195 stocks advancing as against 940 declining shares on the BSE.
The markets seems to be awaiting the RBI policy action tomorrow, before taking its next significant direction.
HDFC has bounced back after a sharp fall yesterday. The stock is now up 1% at Rs 655. Reliance Infrastructure has also gained 1% at Rs 561.
Infosys and Sterlite are the major losers on the Sensex, down over 1% each, at Rs 2,835 and Rs 164, respectively.
SBI, Jaiprakash Associates and Jindal Steel are the other prominent losers.
