The Sensex continues to trade in the negative zone with the index shedding 57 points at 18,989 and the Nifty lost 16 points to trade at 5,695. The broader markets continue to trade in the positive range, with the midcap gaining 0.6% and smallcap adding 0.8%.
On the BSE sectoral chart, Oil & Gas up 1% leads the chart followed by Consumer Durables, Auto and PSU. IT, Metal, FMCG and Health Care continue to trade in the red, shedding 0.2% - 1%
Reliance Communications up nearly 2%, BHEL, SBI, Reliance Infrastructure, RIL, Bajaj Auto and Mahindra & Mahindra up 1% each are the top gainers.
On the losers list are Wipro down 3%, Jindal Steel, Bharti Airtel, HDFC, Tata Power, Infosys and Cipla shedding 1% each.
Market breadth is positive.Of the total 2683 stocks traded on the BSE, 1617 stocks have advanced while 976 have declined.
