Maruti Suzuki is trading 1% lower at Rs 1,072 in an otherwise strong market on reports that the company temporarily halted production at one of its two factories at Manesar in Haryana due to problems with workers.
Last week, the management of the company suspended four workers at its Manesar plant for instigating fellow workers to participate in an agitation against the company and spoiling the atmosphere at the plant.
The local unit of Suzuki Motor Corp. produces the Swift and A-Star hatchbacks, and the SX4 sedan at the Manesar plant. Maruti has another factory at Gurgaon, also in Haryana.
The stock opened at Rs 1,083 and hit a low of Rs 1,070 on the NSE. A combined 267,874 shares have changed hands on the counter till 1149 hours.
