Maruti gains post encouraging July sales figure

The stock was up 3.7% at Rs 2,617 and was the top Sensex gainer

Country's largest car-maker, Maruti Suzuki India gained 3.7% at Rs 2,617, in an otherwise subdued trade, on account of a 21.7% rise in sales in the month of July.

The company, today, reported 21.7% increase in its total sales for July at 1,01,380 units as against 83,299 units in the same month last year. The company said its domestic sales rose 19.9% during the month to 90,093 units as against 75,145 units in July 2013.

The company said sales of the compact segment rose 81.2% to 25,156 units in July this year as against 13,882 units in the same month last year.

Sales of utility vehicles rose 23.4% and that of vans improved 54.8% in July.

Exports during the month rose 38.4% to 11,287 units as compared to 8,154 units in July last year, MSI said.

The stock opened at Rs 2,504 which was also the low point of the day thus far. Thereafter post the announcement of sales figures, the stock touched a high of Rs 2,625.
