Medium sugar ends lower in thin trade

Medium sugar prices moved down marginally in an otherwise lacklustre Vashi wholesale market here today due to lack of demand from retailers amid adequate stock position.

Meanwhile, small sugar variety showed a mixed pattern of trading on alternate bouts of buying and selling.

Medium sugar quality (M-30) edged down by Rs 4/5 per quintal to Rs 2,718/2,796 from yesterday's closing level of Rs 2,722/2,801.

Small sugar quality (S-30) was quoted at Rs 2,685/2,726 per quintal, as against Rs 2,687/2,721 previously.

The following are today's closing rates per quintal, with the previous rates in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,685/2,726 (Rs 2,687/ 2,721) and medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,718/2,796 (Rs 2,722/2,801)
