Medium sugar rises on better demand

Medium sugar prices rose at the Vashi wholesale market here today on emergence of fresh buying from stockists and retailers, while small sugar variety eased due to reduced offtake from retail consumers.

Medium sugar (M-30) gained Rs 19 per quintal to Rs 2,770/ 2,886 from its overnight closing level of Rs 2,751/2,886.

Small sugar (S-30), however, moved down by Rs 4 per quintal to Rs 2,716/2,761 as against Rs 2,720/2,761 yesterday. 

The following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal), with the previous rates given in brackets: 

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,770/2,886 (Rs 2,751/ 2,886)
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,716/2,761 (Rs 2,720/ 2,761)
