Mentha oil futures prices rose by Rs 4.30, or 0.57 per cent to Rs 756.40 per kg today, as traders enlarged their positions, driven by pick up in demand at spot markets.

Restricted arrivals in the physical market fuelled the uptrend. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in August contract gained Rs 4.30, or 0.57 per cent, to Rs 756.40 per kg, with an open interest of 1,158 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in current-month June contract edged up by Rs 3.60, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 723.60 per kg, with a business turnover of 2,413 lots.

Marketmen said pick up in spot demand and lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.

They said increased offtake from pharmaceutical units also influenced the trading sentiment.
