Mentha oil traded Rs 26.40 or 2.43 per cent higher at Rs 795.90 per kg in futures trade today, as traders enlarged their positions, driven by rising demand at spot markets.

Expectations of lower output and rising exports demand from China also provided support to the prices.

Mentha for August contract rose by Rs 26.40 or 2.43 per cent to Rs 795.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 64 lots, while current-month June contract edged higher by Rs 26.20 or 3.51 per cent to Rs 772 per kg, with a business volume of 1,123 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in July-month contract inched up by Rs 24.60 or 3.26 per cent to Rs 776.90 per kg, with a business volume of 464 lots.

Marketmen said pick up in spot demand and lower output expectations influenced the mentha oil prices at futures market here.

Good exports demand also supported the rise in mentha oil futures prices, they added.
