Mentha futures gains on spot demand, fall in supply

Mentha oil prices moved up by Rs 2.50 to Rs 724.50 per kg in futures market today on firming demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha for September month rose by Rs 2.50 or 0.35 per cent to Rs 724.50 per kg with an open interest of 1,946 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in July month traded higher by Rs 1.60 or 0.23 per cent to Rs 689.90 per kg in 4242 lots.

Market analysts said pick up in spot demand at the physical markets and less arrival from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh mainly led to rise in mentha prices at futures market.
