Mentha oil prices eased by 0.29 per cent to Rs 854 per kg in futures trading today as speculators reduced holdings amid sluggish demand from consuming industries in the spot market against higher supplies.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in June declined by Rs 2.50, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 854 per kg in business turnover of 38 lots.

The May contract shed Rs 1.50, or 0.18 per cent to Rs 843.40 per kg in 61 lots.

Analysts said trimming of positions by speculators, driven by sluggish demand from consuming industries in the spot market against supply pressure from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly led to decline in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
