Mentha oil prices moved down by Rs 3% to Rs 1,278.50 per kg in futures market today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels amid sluggish demand in the spot market.

Increased arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh fuelled the downtrend in mentha oil prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in September fell by Rs 39.50, or 3%, to Rs 1,278.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 293 lots.

The October contract lost Rs 40.10, or 3%, to Rs 1,296.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 192 lots.

Marketmen said besides profit-booking by speculators, sluggish demand in the spot market pulled down mentha oil prices at futures trade.
