Mentha oil down on profit-taking

Mentha oil futures prices fell by Rs 11.50 to Rs 1,341.50 per kg today, as speculators booked profits at existing at high prices, amid a fall in spot demand.

Increased arrivals from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, September mentha oil declined by Rs 11.50, or 0.84%, to Rs 1,341.50 per kg, clocking a business volume of 737 lots.

The November contract eased by Rs 10.40, or 0.76%, to Rs 1,357.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 123 lots, while price for October contract fell by Rs 9.50, or 0.69%, to Rs 1,360.30 per kg, with a business volume of 436 lots.

The fall in mentha oil futures prices was mostly due to profit-taking by speculators due to the fall in demand in the spot market, traders said.
