Mentha oil futures prices gained by Rs 5.40, or 0.71 per cent, to Rs 765.30 per kg today on persistent buying by speculators, driven by higher demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for the most-active September contract gained by Rs 5.40, or 0.71 per cent, to Rs 765.30 per kg, with a trading volume of 529 lots.

The mentha oil for August-month delivery rose by Rs 5.20, or 0.69 per cent, to Rs 753.80 per kg, with a business volume of 885 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in October contract traded Rs five, or 0.65 per cent higher, to Rs 774.50 per kg, with a business of 41 lots.

Marketmen said increased buying by speculators on rise in demand from pharmaceutical units pushed up mentha oil prices at futures market.
