Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 3.60, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 843.40 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators reduced their positions in tandem with a weakening trend in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, mentha oil for delivery in November fell by Rs 3.60, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 843.40 per kg, with an open interest of 1,120 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in September lost Rs 1.40, or 0.17 per cent, to Rs 822.20 per kg, with an open interest of 5,792 lots.
Market analysts said weak trend at physical markets due to sluggish demand kept pressure on the mentha futures here.
