Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 5.50 to Rs 1,324.30 per kg in futures trade today due to profit booking by the traders on falling demand in the spot market.

In addition, the increased arrivals in the physical market, from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh, also weighed on the futures prices of mentha oil.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, December mentha oil drifted by Rs 5.50, or 0.41%, to Rs 1,324.30 per kg, clocking a business volume of 48 lots.

The November contract eased by Rs 4.80, or 0.35%, to Rs 1,330.70 per kg, with a business turnover of 313 lots.

The prices for January delivery fell by Rs 4, or 0.30%, to Rs 1,320 per kg, with a business turnover of 313 lots 48 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in mentha oil prices was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators driven by a weakening trend at spot market on poor demand.
