Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 4.50 or 0.58 per cent to Rs 766.10 per kg in futures trade today, as traders booked profits at existing higher prices amid fall in demand at spot markets.

Lower trend at producing centres in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in far-month August fell by Rs 4.50, or 0.58 per cent to Rs 766.10 per kg, with an open interest of 870 lots.

The oil for delivery in current-month June contract also declined by Rs 3.80, or 0.52 per cent to Rs 733.60 per kg, with a business volume of 3,058 lots.

Traders said fall in mentha oil prices was due to profit booking by speculators amid less demand in the spot markets.
