Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 22.90 to Rs 1,014 per kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in profit-booking, driven by subdued spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for September delivery declined by Rs 22.90, or 2.20%, to Rs 1,014 per kg, with a business volume of 227 lots.

August contract eased by Rs 21.10, or 2.05%, to Rs 1,006.90 per kg, with a trade turnover of 986 lots.

The oil prices for July July also fell by Rs 20.80, or 2.04%, to Rs 997.60 per kg, with an open interest of 2,009 lots.

The fall in mentha oil prices was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators and weak trend at spot market on subdued demand, traders said.
