Mentha oil prices dropped by Rs 6.60, or 0.80 per cent, to Rs 821.50 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators indulged in profit-booking amid fall in spot market demand.

Increased arrivals at spot markets from the producing belt of Uttar Pradesh also influenced the trading sentiment.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for October delivery dropped by Rs 6.60, or 0.80 per cent, to Rs 821.50 per kg, with an open interest of 3,571 lots.

The oil for delivery in September month also declined by Rs 6.40, or 0.78 per cent, to Rs 811 per kg, with an open interest of 5,809 lots.

Market analysts said profit-taking by speculators due to fall demand at spot markets mainly led to a decline in mentha prices at futures trade.
